Glen Ellyn, IL—When the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) met September 26-27 in Chicago, Illinois, they welcomed a record number of attendees to tackle a wide range of committee projects and association business. A closer look at registration reveals that distributor members have outnumbered participating manufacturers at the Fall Meeting since 2003. Association leaders believe the compact Fall Meeting schedule and easily-reached Chicago location are factors in driving this attendance, along with the increasingly important opportunity to network informally with peers throughout the distribution chain. In addition to association business, attendees at the 2011 event enjoyed a presentation on mobile technologies and participated in a workshop, refining and updating the long-standing Performance Analysis Report. The Board of Directors welcomed the appointment of Steve Smidler, Kaman Industrial Technologies Corp., to the open position on the board. He will serve 3-year term. BSA also welcomed a number of members to new committee assignments at the 2011 Fall Meeting. Michael Pastore, Kaman Industrial Technologies; Kilby Williamson, Rexnord Industries LLC; and Benito Rodriguez, RIRSA MTY joined the Information Technology & Supply Chain Committee. Benito Rodriguez, RIRSA MTY, and Michael Dolpp, Thomson Industries, joined the Distributor/Manufacturer Relations Committee. Jay Burke, Emerson Power Transmission, has joined the Educational Services Committee. BSA members will gather January 15 – 17, 2012, at Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay, Florida, for the association’s 2012 Winter Meeting. The association’s 2012 Annual Convention is April 29-May 1 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort, Bonita Springs, Florida. BSA is the “must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors.” An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted ball-, roller-, and anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association’s mission says, “BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors.” For more information on BSA contact the BSA office at (630) 858-3838; fax (630) 790-3095; email info@bsahome.org or visit the association website at www.bsahome.org.
