Nowadays, many problems or issues that occur in Indonesian society. People actually look forward to the civitas academia to be able to take part more to resolve the problems or issues. The solution to resolve that is by a real action by the application of science and technology that directly help the community. Bandung Institute of Technology supported by SKF Indonesia as main sponsor held Mechanical Charity Act (MeChA) 2012. This event aims to facilitate human development through engineering.
This event took place for two days on January 28-29 with main activity is Sociotechno Charity and with various activities like Free Engine Tune Up, Mechanical Clinic, Awarenes Photography Challenge, and Charity Booth. The Sociotechno Charity is the real action by the application of science and technology for resolving the problems that occur in Bandung, West Java. The problem is the hoarding of garbage that pollutes the city. Machine Community of Bandung Institute of Technology supported by SKF Indonesia made a garbage enumerator machine to solve the problem.
The garbage enumerator machine was handed over by Hautoro Beliauwan from SKF Indonesia to Cece H. Iskandar, Head of Enviromental Hygiene Departement of Bandung and witnessed by Kadarsah Suryadi, Vice Chancellor of Academic of Bandung Institutes of Technology, Sandro Mihardi, Lecture of Machine Faculty of Bandung Institutes of Technology and all of Students of Bandung Institutes of Technology.
The machine has a height of 1.5 meters with a long of 1.5 meter and a width of 1 meter and using diesel power. Its capacity can be chopped up to one ton of garbage for 24 hours. This machine will be located in landfill in Oasar Ciwastra or Sederhana Market. (BP)
