SKF's Phil Burge Shows How the Right Lubrication Can Improve Equipment
22 February 2012 - Phil Burge, communication manager at SKF, looks at the problems caused by incorrect lubricants and poor lubrication practices and provides a series of guidelines that can be followed to optimise equipment.
Lubrication is an important requirement for all moving components. However, research conducted by SKF indicates that around 36 per cent of all bearing failures are the result of either inappropriate lubricants or poor lubrication practices.
Burge explained that, in order to extend the lifespan and optimise the performance of equipment, it is essential to be aware of the problems that can arise from incorrect lubrication and make preparations to avoid them.
