Auto parts manufacturer investing $9.5 million, adding 51 jobs in Metro Detroit

DETROIT, MI – ZYNP International Corporation, a global automotive supplier, is investing $9.5 million in a new research and development center in Romulus, while adding 51 jobs. The investment was announced by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which said the Michigan Strategic Fund would be chipping in a $350,000 incentive to help ZYNP International expand its operations. “ZYNP International is a world leader in automotive products, and this expansion and new R&D center in Romulus will further strengthen its Michigan presence,” Gov. Rick Snyder said in a statement. “Michigan leads the country in new manufacturing jobs creation, and the new jobs resulting from ZYNP’s expansion will keep us moving in the right direction.” The company chose Michigan over a competing site in Texas. The city of Romulus will also recommend a property tax abatement for the project, according to the MEDC. “We can all applaud ZYNP for this expansion and thank the company for its continued commitment to Southeast Michigan,” MEDC President and CEO Michael A. Finney said in a release. “This new investment shows Michigan’s highly competitive business climate and world class workforce mean real opportunities for leading edge companies.” It is not immediately clear when the new R&D center will come online. ZYNP International, which manufactures cylinder liners for gasoline and diesel engines. was founded about 50 years ago in Mengzhou, China. It opened its North American operations in Romulus in 2005. The company employs about 3,500 workers in China and North America.
