Inox Wind Commissions 116 MW Wind Energy Capacity In India

Wind energy companies in India are reporting new orders and projects nearly every month. Several government-owned and private sector companies are looking to expand into the renewable energy sector and the wind energy companies are benefiting from this increased activity.
Inox Wind, one of the leading wind energy solutions providers, has commissioned 116 MW capacity in Gujarat. The company commissioned projects for several companies including Sembcorp Green Infra, Tata Power, and Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited. The wind farm will prevent the burning of 0.17 million tonnes of coal and the creation of 0.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
Inox Wind also operationalized a 220 kV sub-station for evacuation of power generated from the wind turbines. The sub-station capacity is enough to evacuate 400 MW, so the company is expected to expand the wind farm further.
The company, in its press release, highlighted the advantages of developing large wind farm hosting projects for various companies. Resource assessment, land acquisition, and many other exercises can be completed in one go for all its clients. Inox Wind will be responsible for the long term operations and maintenance services of the wind farm.
Inox Wind recently secured a repeat order from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited for 50 MW capacity. The wind energy company reported that it had 1.4 GW capacity at various stages of development.
Inox Wind raised $165 million through its initial public offering earlier this year and is expected to use these funds to expand generation and manufacturing capacity. At this year’s renewable energy international investors summit organized by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, the company pledged to manufacture 5 GW worth of wind turbines over the next 5-7 years. The company also announced investments worth $750 million for the development of 700 MW capacity in Gujarat.
