Schaeffler and Porsche with match point in China

Porsche is traveling to the penultimate round of the FIA World Championship (WEC) season at Shanghai this weekend as double leaders of the standings. After the Stuttgart-based brand has been leading the manufacturers’ classification in the top category of sports car racing for several events, Porsche drivers Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber, on clinching their third victory in succession, took the top spot in the drivers’ standings for the first time in the most recent race at Fuji. Thanks to a cushion of 55 points, Porsche can secure an early title win in China. Should its advantage amount to 44 or more points before the finale in Bahrain, Schaeffler’s partner will have locked in the manufacturer’s world championship win. The drivers’ classification is packed with more suspense. Bernhard/Hartley/Webber have only a one-point advantage over their closest rivals from the Audi camp, assuring a dramatic 6-hour race in the megacity. WEC round seven will start on Sunday at 11.00 (04.00 CET).
