Recently, the Tuoci Coupling Team of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Qingdao University of Science and Technology has achieved phased results in the research and development of hybrid silicon carbide ceramic bearings, providing technical support for promoting the independent research of high-end ceramic bearings in China.
The team focused on tackling core issues such as material improvement and processing technology optimization for hybrid silicon carbide ceramic bearings. Regarding material performance improvement, by adjusting the sintering aid formula and sintering process, they improved the density and high-temperature resistance of silicon carbide ceramic balls, making them more suitable for the needs of mid-to-high-end equipment. Addressing the problem of insufficient impact resistance in ceramic materials, they attempted to introduce composite toughening technology, providing a new approach to improving the stability of bearing operation.

Meanwhile, the team is also conducting research in the fields of precision machining and supporting materials: the developed multi-stage precision grinding process helps improve the machining accuracy of ceramic bearing balls, gradually approaching the industry's advanced level; the concurrent exploration of bearing steel microstructure control and seal performance optimization technologies also lays the foundation for improving the overall bearing system.
