China Hunan Provincial Engineering Research Center for High-Performance Rolling Bearing Technology has been approved for construction

Recently, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a reply approving the establishment of the "Hunan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Power Grid Construction Technology and Equipment," which is led by Hunan University of Technology and jointly established with CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Co., Ltd. The center is being spearheaded by Professor Yao Qishui's team from the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Rolling bearings are core components of high-end equipment, and their performance directly determines the reliability and lifespan of major equipment. Technological breakthroughs are crucial to solving the "bottleneck" problem in my country's high-end equipment development and supporting the national strategy of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse. For over a decade, Professor Yao Qishui's team has been deeply involved in the design theory, safe service, and precision manufacturing of rolling bearings. In the future, they will focus on the technological needs of key fields such as aerospace and rail transportation, guided by national strategic requirements.

The establishment of this engineering research center aligns perfectly with Hunan's "Three Highs and Four New" strategy, which aims to "build a nationally important advanced manufacturing hub." As a cluster of advanced equipment manufacturing industries, Hunan has an urgent need for high-performance rolling bearings, providing the center with a high-quality industrial environment. The center will leverage the university's research and talent advantages to deepen industry-university-research collaboration, accelerate technology research and development and technology transfer, and promote the high-end and independent upgrading of the industry.

This engineering research center is the first Hunan Provincial Engineering Research Center research platform established by the School of Mechanical Engineering, marking a milestone. It will enhance the school's disciplinary research strength and industry influence, build an innovative platform integrating technology research and development, talent cultivation, and technology transfer, and provide solid support for the university's "Double First-Class" initiative and the high-quality development of local industries.
