The global launch of Chengdu Keneng third-generation axial flow compressor

On January 16, Chengdu Chengfa KeNeng Power Engineering Co., Ltd. held a global launch event for its new products in Changzhou, unveiling three core product series: the ICTA3 third-generation industrial axial flow compressor, the CGA/CGB series gear-assembled compressor, and the EGT40 high-performance gas turbine.

The newly released products deeply integrate advanced aero-engine technology, achieving significant breakthroughs in efficiency improvement, energy conservation and emission reduction, and technological independence. This marks a significant step forward for my country's industrial power equipment sector, breaking the foreign technological monopoly and entering the ranks of international leaders, injecting strong momentum into industrial upgrading under the "dual-carbon" strategy.

As the flagship product of this launch, the ICTA3 third-generation industrial axial flow compressor, based on advanced aero-engine technology, is the culmination of four years of joint research and development between Chengdu Kengneng and the China Aero Engine Research Institute. Originating from advanced aero-engine technology, it is specifically designed to meet the energy conservation and carbon reduction needs of the industrial sector.

The ICTA3 pioneered the "Ultra ONE" blade system, employing a controllable diffuser airfoil, a low aspect ratio, and a fully three-dimensional aerodynamic design. The blade's cross-sectional modulus is optimized for optimal aerodynamic distribution, resulting in aerodynamic efficiency more than 5 percentage points higher than domestic second-generation products and on par with the international benchmark, the German MAN MAX1 series. The number of turbine stages is reduced by 35%, achieving a qualitative leap in power density.

In terms of reliability, the product integrates aero-engine strength design standards, employing large-section modulus blades, shroud adjustment technology, and optimized tenon structures. This reduces blade dynamic stress levels by 30%, ensuring sufficient safety margins even under extreme conditions such as surge.

Verified by the first demonstration project at Jiangsu Zhongtian Steel, the ICTA3 unit reduces electricity consumption per ton of iron by approximately 6.4 kWh, achieving energy savings of over 8%, resulting in annual electricity savings of over 10 million kWh and a reduction of approximately 11,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Beyond the metallurgical industry, this technology also has broad prospects for application in other high-energy-consuming industries such as petrochemicals, chemicals, air separation, and energy storage.

The core technology of this product is entirely independently developed, boasting 16 patents and 5 software copyrights. It has established a comprehensive forward R&D system from one-dimensional design to three-dimensional flow field optimization, employing multi-software joint simulation such as Taihang CAE, providing a typical example of my country's self-reliance in industrial equipment technology.

In addition to the flagship ICTA3 product, Chengdu Kengneng simultaneously released the EGT40 high-performance gas turbine and the CGA/CGB series gear-assembled compressors, forming a full product portfolio covering different power outputs and scenarios to comprehensively meet the diverse needs of the industrial sector.

The EGT40 is derived from a mature aero-engine core, with an output power of 4500kW, a thermal efficiency of 30%, and NOx emissions ≤20ppm, exceeding international standards for similar products. Core components are 100% domestically produced, and the control system is 100% independently controllable. The product is suitable for distributed energy, power peak shaving, mobile power vehicles, offshore platforms, and other scenarios, significantly reducing operation and maintenance costs compared to similar foreign products, with a major overhaul cycle of up to 30,000 hours.

The global launch event, themed "Harnessing the Wind and Gathering Energy, Leading a New Journey," was attended by over 400 people from research institutes, industry associations, and industrial enterprises. The event included signing ceremonies for agreements on in-depth development of air separation and CO2 energy storage units, a 4MW gas turbine demonstration application, and cooperation on a 60,000 Nm³/h air separation project. Chengdu Kengneng and related units, including the China Aero Engine Research Institute, deepened their strategic cooperation to accelerate the industrialization of technological achievements.

The launch event also revealed that the first phase of the Chengdu production base, a 650 million yuan investment, has been completed, with the turbine assembly plant scheduled to officially commence production in 2026. Upon reaching full capacity, it will be able to produce 50 sets of energy-saving turbine equipment and 100 sets of spare parts annually. Later, it will gradually reach a capacity of 100 sets of main units and 200 sets of spare parts per year, achieving an industrial scale of 5 billion yuan and driving the cluster development of upstream and downstream industrial chains.
