On March 31st, the world's largest cargo drone to date—the "Changying-8" large transport drone—successfully completed its maiden flight in Zhengzhou. This marks a significant breakthrough for my country in the field of 7-ton-class intelligent unmanned transport platforms, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy. Aero engines are hailed as the "heart" of aircraft, and bearings, as key core components within engines that carry power transmission, directly determine the operational stability, reliability, and service life of the aircraft. The engine carried by the "Changying-8" large transport drone placed extremely stringent technical requirements on the matching bearings.

 

To precisely meet the development requirements of the "Changying-8" UAV, the group company's R&D team optimized the bearing structure design and innovated manufacturing processes, overcoming a series of technical challenges to meet the requirements of long bearing life, high reliability, lightweight, and high precision. This comprehensively improved the bearing's fatigue life, operational accuracy, and environmental adaptability, ensuring the bearing maintained a stable and efficient working state throughout the engine's continuous operation. This provided a solid guarantee for the smooth operation of the power system during the "Changying-8's" maiden flight.

 

The "Changying-8" large transport UAV is hailed as an "unmanned aerial heavy truck." This flight was entirely guided by an intelligent system with manual monitoring. The flight attitude remained stable, and all systems functioned well, marking a significant breakthrough for my country in the field of 7-ton-class intelligent unmanned transport platforms.

 

It is understood that this UAV was designed strictly according to the airworthiness standards system for large cargo UAVs, resulting in several significant advantages and redefining the industry benchmark:

 

High-efficiency heavy load: The maximum payload reaches 3.5 tons, equivalent to the total weight of 50 adults, capable of carrying over 1700 winter coats or 700 disaster relief tents in one go.

 

Comprehensive Deployment: With a takeoff and landing distance of less than 500 meters and low site requirements, it can be deployed in complex terrains such as simple unpaved runways, plateaus, and islands, comprehensively expanding logistics reach.

 

Ultra-Long Range: Maximum range exceeds 3,000 kilometers, equivalent to a non-stop direct flight from Beijing to Urumqi, truly achieving "accessibility to remote areas, regardless of weather."

 

Rapid Loading and Unloading: Equipped with an 18-cubic-meter fully enclosed cargo hold, a front and rear double-door layout, compatible with standard air containers and cold chain units, supporting bidirectional rapid loading and unloading, with transit completed in as little as 15 minutes, significantly improving logistics turnover efficiency.

 

"Saturation-Level" Safety Design: Utilizing twin domestically produced turboprop engines, it features multiple safety redundancies in key systems such as flight control, navigation, and power supply, integrating intelligent health monitoring and fault self-diagnosis functions to ensure safe and controllable flight throughout the entire process.

 

Modular Functional Retrofitting: Leveraging high power supply, large payload, and standardized interfaces, it can quickly change mission payloads and flexibly expand to diverse scenarios such as emergency communication, weather modification, border patrol, and electronic reconnaissance, truly achieving "one aircraft, multiple functions, peacetime and wartime integration."

 

Highly Autonomous Intelligent Control: Based on multi-control surface adaptive reconfiguration flight control technology, it achieves unmanned autonomous flight across the entire flight segment; supports centralized monitoring of multiple aircraft at a single station, and can be connected to a networked operation and maintenance platform to dynamically match capacity with demand.
