SAN MARINO, Calif., Aug 08, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Trans-Pacific Aerospace Company, Inc. /quotes/zigman/589862 TPAC -9.00% announced today that spherical bearings from its China subsidiary have passed all independent laboratory testing under SAE Aerospace Standard 81820. "We are very pleased with the test results," said Bill McKay, Trans-Pacific Aerospace CEO. "Our bearings not only passed, but exhibited performance well above the specs." The rigorous testing conducted by Independent Testing Labs, Inc. in Costa Mesa, CA included tests for radial static limit load, axial static limit load, oscillation under radial load, no load rotational breakaway torque, fluid contamination, sub zero temperature and bond integrity and peel strength. Bearings made by Godfrey Guangzhou Aerospace Bearings, the wholly owned foreign entity of Godfrey (China) Limited, Trans-Pacific Aerospace Company's 25%-owned subsidiary, have been submitted to the U.S. Navy for official qualification testing. The testing will be completed by the end of September. McKay added: "We are hopeful that the independent results will be mirrored by qualification and verification testing by the U.S. Navy. Should we pass, we will be able to commence sales and full production in October, with our Guangzhou facility becoming the first and only manufacturer in China qualified to produce SAE-AS81820 aerospace quality bearings." To date, Trans-Pacific Aerospace's operations have focused on assisting its 25%-owned Chinese subsidiary, Godfrey (China) Limited, in the development of its production facility in Guangzhou, China and the design and engineering of Godfrey's initial product line of spherical bearings. Godfrey has a special operating license granted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology. Godfrey has completed prototype manufacturing and testing in China and the United States and is pursuing SAE parts qualification of its facility in Guangzhou, China.
